Football + beer + handfuls of fruit = Not good for losing weight.

Dropping Like a stone Oct. 15th, 2013 @ 12:42 pm
My non-eating diet is almost working. I'm not quite getting away from all my usual snacking, but general cut-backs have means that I've managed to drop down to my lowest weight since March 2012. I'm still about 2 stone above my target weight, but I'm getting there. Just wonder how much longer I can keep this up.
I've managed to knock off about half a stone since the end of last month and about one stone from my peak. Still, it was only a fortnight ago that I noticed exactly how "broad" I was looking. On the plus side, half of my shirt collars now button up.

Saving pounds and pounds Sep. 19th, 2013 @ 01:29 pm
It would appear that I am only able to lose weight when I forgot to bring any money to work. Self-will be damned, I need incompetence if I ever hope to get stablise my weight.

Ruined Forever - Childhood May. 1st, 2013 @ 07:16 pm
When I was a kid, there were a couple of occasions when my elderly neighbours got some fresh exotic fruit and offered me a piece. These were strange events and even though I didn't like the taste of the coconut or pineapple, I appreciated the moment and surprise. I guess children felt the same way about eating their first banana after WW2. The thing is, kids today don't get that. They've all eaten strange fruits and they are available all year round in the local supermarket. There is no longer any such thing as a "rare" fruit. Either they are common or non-existent. I feel sorry that future kids miss this fun experience.

About the nearest equivalent I could come up with would be a trip to a scrumpy factory in Kent to eat those rare-breed apples that are only grown from 4 trees on that orchard, but even then, when you are a child, an apple is an apple no matter what it tastes or looks like. Not really something to get excited about.

Hmmm. This looks familiar.

» Regret
My nan went for a digestion blockage a couple of days ago and had emergency surgery. Now her kidney has switched itself off. Dad isn't taking it well. My youngest just turned 2. Nan has never seen him before and doesn't look like getting the chance now. At the moment, he struggles with 30 minute drives, so the 10 hours of a return trip to north Wales has always been out of the question. I regret not taking him when he was tiny and probably more able to cope with the trip.

At first we put it off because it would be hard work. More recently because the drive was out of the question. I guess I waited to long. We knew she was a frail old woman of 96. I've just always know her to be a tiny welsh lady and never expected her to be anything different.
» Finally, VICTORY!
After trying all season, Niblet's team finally scored a goal in a football match. They also won their game, and kept a free kick. To cap it all, Niblet scored the winner with a strike from the edge of the area of a short corner. 3-0 and everyone was very happy. Yes it was against a newly established team in a friendly and they were mostly outplayed, but looking at how everyone ran that bit faster, challenged for the ball and actually wanted to make it theirs after the first goal went in was a great feeling.

Also had a word to him about his celebration. Running the whole length of the pitch before diving on the ground is probably overdoing it.
» There is a Lego MMO?
I went into the LEGO store in Bluewater on Sunday. One of their screens advertised the lego mmo with the word FREE blasted around all over the place. I think they also had some machines set up for people to have a go (I didn't get to have a blast). So there I was, thinking it would be idea for me and the Little'en to have a play.

Then a little digging around lead me to this, from 4th November.

Hello Adventurer, today we are very sad to announce that LEGO Universe will be closing on Janurary 31, 2012. This was a very difficult decision to make, but unfortunately LEGO Universe has not been able to attract the number of members needed to keep the game open

I guess I am too late then. Curse you LEGO for advertising a game you are in the process of killing off!
» I Caused A Tobold Rant!
On Friday, in response to a comment on Diablo 3 talent trees I said "Blizzard hate talent trees." The following day, Tobold posts about the Anthropomorphization of Game Companies with

" struck me how often people use phrases like "Blizzard hates talent trees"..."

Say woo me. I pushed someone over the edge into making a post.

Then I feel as though I have let myself down. I got excited something I said got a reaction on the internet. Am I 12 years old again?
» I think that explains it
Yesterday I thought I had a relatively good day in terms of food. Then I got home and ate two biscuits, a bag of crisps and some jam on bread. Then I remembered the Snickers bar I'd eatten at work. I think that explains why my weight keeps on rising
